IWVA was formed in 1975, shortly after the Indiana Small Winery Act was passed by the Indiana General Assembly. At that time, there were enough interested “friends of the grape” to establish the Indiana Winegrowers Guild, which later became the Indiana Winery & Vineyard Association in 2009.
Since then, IWVA has grown into a strong advocacy organization, representing Indiana winemakers and grape growers before both the Indiana General Assembly and the Indiana Alcohol & Tobacco Commission.
Our membership includes the biggest wineries in Indiana, as well as the smallest startups who are still working on opening a tasting room. Our aim is to serve as a valuable resource for wineries at all business and lifecycle stages so that we can help educate and grow the youngest of them, and support and empower the most established.
